The Australian Superannuation Guarantee is a key pillar of Australia's unique Retirement Income Scheme whereby employers contribute a proportion of an employee's salary to superannuation. Australians generally support the legislation of the compulsory Superannuation Guarantee contributions by employers. 76 per cent of Australians believe that the Superannuation Guarantee should be increased above the current rate of 9.5 per cent.

More than 50 per cent of Australians believe that the Superannuation Guarantee should be increased as legislated (to 12 per cent by July 2025).

21 %

21 per cent believe that the Superannuation Guarantee should be increased beyond the proposed legislation.

52 %

Half of all respondents said they would leave all of their savings in their superannuation until retirement.

13 %

Only 13 per cent of people drew from their superannuation savings during the COVID-19 period.
