Environmental issues played a much more important role in the 2019 Federal Election than in the previous election, with a majority of voters in every State and Territory considering global warming a serious threat. Inner city voters were more likely to view global warming as a threat compared to voters in rural areas.
For 11% of voters the environment was the most important election 2019 issue, and for another 10% global warming was the most important.
The ACT was the State or Territory where the highest proportion of voters nominated global warming as a serious threat.
Queensland was the state where the fewest number of voters nominated global warming as a serious threat, although it was still a majority of voters.
No respondents in the Northern Territory thought global warming was not at all serious.
